So you've decided to go on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey. Good for you. Thousands of people have done it very successfully and you can to.

There will be some trying times but, rest assured, those will be short lived. The astounding health benefits that you will get by following the Hallelujah Diet are well-worth brief times of temporary discomfort.

Just so you dive into the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey with your eyes open and to make it easier to keep progressing, it is best to know what's on the road ahead...

Defeating Detox

Going on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey may lead to more detox for some. Not all people go through detox, and, for some it's so mild that they don't even notice it.

Detox exhibits in a wide range of symptoms and you may experience one or a few or more, if you experience any at all. To learn more about detox, what to expect and how to handle it, click here to read this article by Hallelujah Acres.

Detox can be uncomfortable but it is short-lived. And it's a sign that your body is cleansing itself of years of toxins and preparing to rebuild a healthier new you!

Conquering Cravings

When you go on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey, you may crave foods you have given up, especially addictive foods such sugar, caffeine and processed food.

There are two kinds of cravings, physical and psychological.

The physical cravings are a result of the cleansing action of the Hallelujah Diet. As your body releases toxins, this may lead to cravings for the foods that contain those toxins. Very similar to the nicotine withdrawal people get when they quit smoking cigarettes.

Physical cravings for toxic foods are relieved by eating healthy foods, staying on the BarleyMax and getting some exercise. Please remember that this is a temporary discomfort. You can get through it!

Psychological cravings are those "I gotta have it! uncontrollable desires for food- usually high calorie food that is also high in salt, fat or sugar. Psychological cravings can come and go for a year or more.

Psychological cravings typically have some trigger that leads to the intense desire. So it is really important for you to not only be able to identify your food craving as psychological, but also recognize what triggers it. Being able to do this will help you conquer the craving.

Facing Fatigue

Fatigue may be an issue for you as you go on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey. When you eliminate the toxic foods that artificially stimulate the body- sugar, caffiene, meat, processed foods- you may experience fatigue. Generally this should last less than a week.

However, once toxic foods are out of your body (and out of your kitchen!), you'll feel cleaner, revived and more energized than you have probably felt for a long time. This is because the bounty of live food enzymes you eat on the Hallelujah Diet nourish your body's cells and provide true energy!

So be sure to get enough sleep when you start the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey. Take naps if you can, drink plenty of water, and keep eating those healthy foods. Within a few days you will have a surge of exhilirating energy that will make you jump for joy and shout, "HALLELUJAH!"

Handling Hunger

Intense 'toxic hunger' can be an issue if you go on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey. This is because you are now eating a lot of nutrient-rich, lower calorie foods. Instead of a Big Mac and fries, you are eating raw vegetables and fruits.

The first thing you need to do is identify if what you are feeling is actually true hunger, not toxic hunger.

Toxic hunger is what you experience as you go from eating a toxic diet to a healthy diet. Symptoms of toxic hunger include:

  • weakness
  • headaches
  • lightheadedness
  • stomach cramps

For me, I know I am experiencing toxic hunger when I'm not hungry for anything healthy!

True hunger is not unpleasant. It is hunger felt in sensations in your mouth and throat. Salads, smoothies, fruits and vegetables all sound and look delicious. You don't have that, "I need something to eat RIGHT NOW!" feeling.

When you go on the Hallelujah Diet cold turkey, your body needs to adjust to less calories and more nutrition. And it will. As the cells of your body get the live-promoting nourishment they need, the hunger will lessen.

Be sure to eat enough and often of the nutrient-rich foods when you start the Hallelujah Diet. And drink plenty of water.
